Please if you are a member of any group, organization or charity whose members are affected by fireworks, PLEASE contact them and ask they contact their MP with their views on firework law as it is now.  We need as many different organizations to put their views as possible.

We hope that as you are here with us, that you feel as passionately about getting some change to UK firework law as we do.  Our one aim is to restore some much needed peace to our communities. We are not against displays, as they are usually very well advertised and can be prepared for. We are concerned with the “creeping firework season”, as said by an MP in the government debate  we caused in June 2016.

Many of you will be aware of the distress and sometimes injury and death caused to animals, our dogs, cats, rabbits, horses in field and stable as well as livestock and wildlife. But how many people realise the distress caused by these random fireworks to the young child who cannot sleep or is woken during the night, the elderly having lived through the 2nd World War are thrown back into a time they would rather forget. The returning military personnel having served their country now fighting the battle with PTSD made worse not only by the fireworks themselves but the residual smell that hangs in the air. There are many medical conditions which are made worse by the sudden heart thumping bangs, whistles and screeches of fireworks. During the winter months the use of fireworks has become an almost daily traumatic intrusion into our lives, we hope that by highlighting these facts and promoting our campaign that more people realise the devastation their back garden ‘fun’ can have on others around them. We hope you will help us to do just that, by signing and sharing our petition and by writing to your MP.  We want you to know that you are not alone, we are not a minority, we just need to be heard.

We want to highlight anti-social use and show you fireworks in the media. Our emergency services often come under attack and fireworks are used as weapons against them.

We also want to highlight the possibility of firework use as either a cover for terror attacks or as the ingredients. Firework retailers including supermarkets have already been told by  The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to be vigilant.

As a comparison, knives, acid and now lasers are coming under stricter legislation. There is no reason the Firework Act 2003 cannot be changed by regulations, by the Secretary of State. It was designed with that ability.
